Detroit's Family Friendly Halloween Fun

It’s Boo time, Detroit. Whether you live in metro Detroit or are visiting with the fam, there are plenty of Halloween activities for all ages and tastes.

Trunk-or-treating and trick-or-treating opportunities abound to soothe your sweet tooth in any metro Detroit community.

Are you looking for a uniquely Detroit Halloween experience? We have that too. At the world-class Greenfield Village, celebrate Hallowe'en like nowhere else in the country with an immersive amble through spooky historical America.

Whether you want to party with your favorite Disney Junior character, get your brick on with LEGO monsters, or enjoy traditional Halloween spooks, Detroit has something for you.

Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village

What better way to celebrate than with a 42-year Hallowe'en tradition? Ramble through Greenfield Village after hours and experience costumed storybook characters and ghostly performances. Take a ride Hallowe'en Express on its haunted tracks or visit the harvest market.

Zoo Boo

Watch your favorite zoo animal have a Halloween treat as you munch on sweet treats. Enjoy trick-or-treat stations throughout the zoo, educational experiences, and more. Check out the schedule to find out each weekend's theme.

Halloween Stroll

When: Every weekend in October

Where: Canterbury Village

Halloween Stroll is Canterbury Village’s annual outdoor, family-friendly experience, where the quaint village property is transformed into a Halloween wonderland. Guests of all ages can enjoy fun and festive encounters and exhibits along the walking paths adorned with hand-carved jack-o-lanterns and glowing lamp posts. Halloween truly comes to life with pumpkin trees, the spooky carousel house, scarecrow row, singing and dancing skeletons, tunnel of fun and much more. A variety of seasonal refreshments, including cider, donuts, hot chocolate and more, will be available for purchase.

Glenlore Trails presents FATE

When: Thursday through Sunday, all October long

Where: Glenlore Trails

Michigan’s illuminated forest has transformed once again! Come explore the wonders of time in FATE. Glenlore Trails is an immersive night walk located in Commerce Michigan. Every Thursday to Sunday evening the forest comes to life in a dazzling display of light, sound, and wonder.

Disney Junior Live On Tour: Costume Palooza

When: Sunday, October 9, 2022

4 pm to 8 pm

Where: Fox Theatre

Put your costume on and have a blast with your favorite Disney Jr. characters.

Trick or Treat Trail

When: Saturday, October 15, 2022

1 - 3 pm

Where: Kensington Metropark

4570 Huron River Pkwy, Milford, MI

Follow the festive pumpkin trail and meet costumed characters along the way. This completely fun and not scary trail is perfect for all ages. Preregister online, so families are staggered throughout the trail.

Haunted Trail at Halloweenfest

When: October 22, 2022

6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m

Where: Ford Field Park

Don a costume and walk the Haunted Trail to the Ghost Pavillion. Enjoy bags of candy and food trucks, and other fun activities.

Boo Bash

When: October 23, 2022

11 am - 3 pm

Where: Heritage Park

Put on a costume and head to Heritage Park for s'mores, hayrides, crafts, a trick-or-treat trail, and more.

Halloween Spooktacular

When: Friday, October 28, 2022

5:30-9 pm

Where: St. Joe's Sports Dome

18600 Haggerty Rd, Livonia, MI

This free event is perfect for families. It includes trick-or-treating, bounce houses, a costume contest, and other fun activities.

Spooky Halloween Painting Party

When: Saturday, October 29, 2022

2 pm to 05 pm

Where: The Stuffed Hub

21477 South Bridge Street Southfield, MI

Wear a costume, bring a treat bag, and paint a spooky Halloween painting with a local Detroit artist. Fun for the whole family!

Halloween Movie In The Park

When: Saturday, October 7, 2022

7 pm

Where: Pleasant Ridge Community Center

4 Ridge Rd, Pleasant Ridge, MI

Bring a blanket and snacks and snuggle up for an outdoor movie. Enjoy the Halloween classic Hocus Pocus on a 25 ft screen.

Happy Halloween Treats for the Kids Painting Class

When: Saturday, October 29, 2022

11:30 am to 1 pm

Where: Painting With A Twist 1420 Washington Blvd Detroit, MI 48226

This fun-filled, family painting class will walk you through the steps to making your very own pumpkin painting. This adorable pumpkin is adorn with Harry Potter glasses and a witches hat.

2022 Streets of Treats

When: Saturday, October 29, 2022

10 am to 12:30 pm

Where: Downtown Northville

Dress up in a costume and head to downtown Northville for trick or treating at the local businesses.
