Detroit's Newest Hotel Restaurants Worth Visiting

It’s common knowledge by now that Detroit is having a boutique hotel boom. And with new hotels come new restaurants!

This past year saw the opening of three new hotels in Detroit: Cambria Hotel (an art deco-inspired hotel located downtown), The Godfrey Hotel (a modern luxury hotel located in Corktown), and ROOST(an apartment hotel located in the remodeled Book Tower downtown).

Each hotel brings its own brand of food and beverage options to the Detroit restaurant scene – offering something for visitors and locals alike. Check out all 10 new hotel restaurants below.

Cibo

Hotel: Cambria Hotel Downtown Detroit

Cibo is the soulful Mediterranean fusion restaurant that is the heart of the culinary scene at Cambria Hotel, run by chef James Sumpter. On the menu here you will find everything from pomegranate ribs and fried shawarma & biscuits at brunch, to whole fried branzino and prosciutto & fig pizza at dinner. The atmosphere here is upscale and inventive, and you can expect live DJ performances nightly.

Detroit Taco Bodega

Hotel: Cambria Hotel Downtown Detroit

For something a bit more casual within the Cambria Hotel, head to Detroit Taco Bodega. Notably, this fast-casual Mexican establishment is open 24/7 - perfect for hotel guests returning from a wedding or special event, or any Detroiter nearby looking for a late-night snack. It also features a Halal menu. Try the birria skillet at breakfast, or the shawarma tacos at dinner time.

Cielo

Hotel: Cambria Hotel Downtown Detroit

Cielo is the brand new bar at Cambria, which opened in May. Head to the hotel rooftop for beautiful city views, and to sip on some craft cocktails.

Hamilton’s

Hotel: The Godrey Hotel

Over in Corktown at the new The Godrey Hotel, you can find Hamilton’s. The menu here, curated by Detroit restauranteur Samy Eid, focuses on upscale American classics with a slight Mediterranean twist. The name of the restaurant itself is a nod to Hamilton Carhartt, the founder of well-known clothing brand Carhartt, because the hotel was developed from the former site of a Carhartt factory. For dinner, your choices range from smash burgers and Denver steak to tuna tartare and Michigan carrots.

I|O Rooftop Lounge

Hotel: The Godfrey Hotel

Head upstairs at The Godfrey Hotel to visit the new I|O Rooftop Lounge. In a unique spin, the ceiling and walls of the bar and dining space can retract – giving optimum Detroit skyline views in any weather. Both the food and drinks menus here reflect the hotel’s contemporary luxury vibe. Choose from flatbread pizzas, appetizers, and desserts to craft cocktails – for example their Blue Don Julio Margarita which celebrates the Detroit Lions football team with its bright Honolulu blue color.

Kamper’s

Hotel: ROOST

Head up to the tippy top (14th floor, to be precise) of Book Tower to dine at Kamper’s, the resident rooftop lounge. The fare here is Spanish-inspired, featuring classic tapas and pintxos dishes alongside an extensive Spanish wine list, and of course craft cocktails.

Sakazuki

Hotel: ROOST

Sakazuki is another Japanese option within the Book Tower – but quite a bit more casual than its counterpart, Hiroki San. Come here for a Japanese pub feel, with a low-key menu of favorites like spam musubi, bento box, sandos, and even wagyu hamburgers and hot dogs.

Bar Rotunda

Hotel: ROOST

Located in the lobby of Book Tower, you’ll find Bar Rotunda – an all-day café and wine bar. Enjoy pastries and light bites alongside coffee or cocktails, while enjoying the bustling atmosphere of an iconic Detroit building reborn. Be sure to look up at the Keppler glass domed ceiling while you are there.

Le Supreme

Hotel: ROOST

For French food, pay a visit to Le Supreme in the Book Tower. The restaurant is styled after Parisian brasseries, with its olive green-tiled, wood, and cherry red-upholstered interior. The menu is equally delightful, offering everything from lobster and mussels to artisanal French cheese boards, steak tartare, and of course escargots.

Hiroki San

Hotel: ROOST

Hiroki San is a new Japanese restaurant located in the historic Book Tower, which reopened last year featuring ROOST apartment hotel. Expect traditional Japanese dishes, with many ingredients imported fresh from Japan weekly. While the sushi is delicious, expand your palate and try less common dishes like their udon and soba noodles, robatayaki yakitori, and of course the wagyu beef.
