How to Spend One Day in Detroit
Spend one day in Detroit and you’ll have plenty of activities to fill your agenda with.
Here are seven places to kickstart your day in The D, suggested by our friends at Pure Michigan.
1. The Belt
Visit The Belt – Detroit’s creative alley. It’s lined with amazing outdoor art installations. The Belt is home to Library Street Collective, a contemporary fine art gallery and some of Detroit’s coolest watering holes – The Skip and Standby. This is one of the most Insta-worthy spots in The D, so snap away.

2. The Skip
This one deserves an individual shout out. The Skip opens its doors and expands into The Belt. They serve up some of the best drinks in the city, including frozen concoctions. Some of our faves on the menu include the Cucumber Margarita and the Okey Dokey Smoky Artichokey. Yes, it’s a real thing. Yes, you should try it.
3. Supino Pizzeria
Serving up monster New York-style pizza in Detroit might sound like a crime, but Supino Pizzeria will surely change your mind. This place is a hot-commodity on and Eastern Market Saturday, but take out is always an option. Check out our Eats in The D episode on Supino for the ins, outs and Chef’s best recommendations.
4. Eastern Market
Eastern Market is Detroit’s open-air famers market. This place is bumping on the weekends. Grab some fresh produce, gander at the street art and grab a bite at one of the neighborhood’s eateries. We suggest a bloody mary from Vivio’s to cap off your trip.
5. Dilla Delights
Who doesn’t love doughnuts? Dilla Delights is a downtown establishment that offers organic doughnuts (and even some vegan options!). The McNasty Macaroon Cake and Blackbottom Blueberry Cake doughnuts are where its at.
6. Fowling Warehouse
Football + bowling = fowling and here in Detroit, it’s basically our fifth professional sport. Try your hand at fowling at the Fowling Warehouse in Hamtramck. This place is the perfect hangout for a group. Winner picks up the next round of beers.
7. Baker’s Keyboard Lounge
Baker’s is a Detroit jazz staple. It’s actually the world’s oldest jazz club and still boasts some of the best shows in the city. Grab some food and a drink from their full menu and listen to some tunes for an authentically Detroit night on the town.
