The Best Things to Do in Downtown Northville
Story by Max White
Downtown Northville is in western Wayne County and is located about 30 minutes from Downtown Detroit and Detroit Metro Airport, making it a great place to take a morning or afternoon trip when visiting the suburbs.
The restaurant has dozens of restaurants and shops to visit while you’re spending the day in Northville, and here are some of our favorites.
Where to Eat
Table 5
Located in the heart of historic Northville on Main St., the building that Table 5 is in dates back to the 1860s and was the home of several previous restaurants.
The restaurant is closed on Mondays and offers a variety of food including a cheese and olive plate as a starter, a mix of fish and meat for entrees, a deep list of wine and cocktails, and even dessert cocktails.
You can try the Parmenter’s Bread Pudding for dessert or the homemade pumpkin pie.
The Early Bird
The Early Bird is a classic diner serving up breakfast, lunch and brunch to customers. They have breakfast specialties, skillets, griddle items, omelets and more.
For lunch, there are different sandwiches, salads, soups and the daily specials change every day to include different drinks, breakfasts and lunches.

Lucy & The Wolf
Lucy & The Wolf takes the famous Spanish Tapas and gives them an American twist. The menu features big plates, small plates and starters, so everyone at the table can share.
Give the buttermilk biscuits and honey a chance as a starter, and then share the mini meatloaf, roasted oyster mushrooms, grilled heirloom carrots and more. Finish it off with chicken or if you want, the 32-ounce cowboy-style porterhouse steak.
Finally, they offer French press coffee service, hot apple crumble or mini donuts for dessert.
North Center Brewing Company
Michigan has no shortage of great breweries – just check out the Detroit Brew Trail – and one in Northville offers great beer and delicious food.
The brewery has more than a dozen beers with varying ABVs, ranging from IPAs to stouts, a Kolsch, porters, sours and more.
For food, they offer salads, burgers, sandwiches and limited specials that change each week.

Garage Grill and Fuel Bar
Step back in time at Garage Grill & Fuel Bar. It’s located in a fully restored gas station from the 1940s that was later a car dealership and garden shop.
They offer brunch and dinner to go along with a full bar. For brunch, try the house-baked cinnamon rolls to start, maybe even the breakfast pizza or the breakfast garagewich.
Dinner entrees include a roasted half-chicken, different pizzas, the pork belly tacos, Gulf shrimp risotto and more.
Tirami Su
A classic Italian restaurant in Downtown Northville, Tirami Su plays on the Italian dessert name and serves up great food.
They have a mix of salads, pastas, entrees and more.
Browndog Barlor and Restaurant
There aren’t many restaurants like Browndog. They use local ingredients and have brunch and dinner to go with giant boozy shakes, a mix of beer, craft cocktails and even hot cocktails for the winter.
Their menu includes burgers, mac & cheese, vegan and vegetarian options and more.
The boozy shakes include the Plastered Pony (Unicorn Swirl Faygo ice cream, black raspberry liqueur, vanilla vodka, whipped cream, unicorn sprinkles), the Drunken Muppet (Kookie For Cookies ice cream, chocolate vodka, dark chocolate liquor, house made whipped cream, & cookie pieces) and more.
Finally, you can get some ice cream from the shop to eat there or to-go, and some of it even contains alcohol.
