Story by Michelle Fusco | Photos by Bill Bowen
So, you’re in charge of planning your next family, military or class reunion. It may seem like an overwhelming task, but here’s some good news: you don’t have to do it alone!
The Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau (Visit Detroit) is here to help and our services are free.
Connecting Reunion Planners with Preferred Vendors
Once you’ve identified your reunion venue, searching for quality support service providers can be like throwing darts at a wall, and who has time to make all of those phone calls, send a slew of emails and wait for responses? More good news: the Visit Detroit provides selection assistance for things like hotels, banquet halls, T-shirt companies, caterers, DJs and more. In fact, when you register your reunion with the Visit Detroit, we’ll take care of the heavy lifting by contacting preferred service providers for you. Just let us know exactly what you’re looking for and we’ll send you vendor information that matches your specific needs directly, saving you a ton of time and energy.
“Our top requests are T-shirt companies, catering, banquet venues, attractions, parks and step-on-tour guides,” said Lynette Richardson, Visit Detroit sales manager. “We send RFPs (requests for proposals) out to our members and they respond to the leads.”
Serve Yourself with Detroit Tourism Website
If you prefer to do some of your own destination research, the Visit Detroit’s award-winning, mobile-friendly website, with a complete membership database of more than 1,000 local tourism-industry businesses, is also a valuable resource. These Visit Detroit partners are the best in the business, with access to hospitality training and tourism industry education seminars from the Visit Detroit. Search categories include attractions, entertainment, hotels, meeting and event service providers, restaurants, shopping, sports and transportation providers.
More Help from Detroit’s Tourism Experts
Besides help with hotel and service provider selection, the Visit Detroit will also provide your reunion with free promotional items, suggest activities for both children and adults, and a list of metro Detroit recreational parks.
