March is celebrated as Women's History Month and a time to recognize and honor the contributions and achievements of women throughout history and the amazing women leading the way every day. In Detroit, we celebrate influential women leaders, activists, entrepreneurs, entertainers, creators, innovators, and citizens.
Detroit Traditions
There are a few can't-miss Detroit traditions that are a must on any traveler's list for March. The first is March du Nain Rouge. Legend has it that the Nain Rouge has been a harbinger of doom since the time of Detroit's founding. Each year a parade is held in the Cass Corridor to trick the Nain and drive it out of the city! This year's parade is Sunday, March 23rd.
