On April 4th, Detroit will be flooded with baseball fans or just people looking to have some fun. The Detroit Tigers baseball home opener unleashes a party for Detroiters. Bars open early, heated outdoor tents spring up, TVs, entertainment and more can be found throughout the city.
Tickets to the game or not, you’ll want to take the day off and head to Detroit for the celebration. Check out this guide for some of the biggest parties in The D. Your favorite bar or restaurant will probably open early and have a special event so check their website and social media too.

Detroit Home Opener Festival
This festival is the biggest opening day party in Detroit. It’s located at the Madison Avenue Festival grounds. It’s an outdoor party with giant heated tents. Expect everything from DJs and live music to games, food, beer, a full bar, and more. Make sure to grab tickets to this event ahead of time through their website.
97.1 The Ticket Opening Day Block Party
Head downtown to Detroit’s Grand Circus Park for this free block party on opening day. Music, food vendors, beer options and giant screens to watch the game. The party goes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Block Party
One building, one ticket ($20 each), four different party venues. The Annex Detroit, Cabana, Brass Rail Sports Bar, and a heated tent are the four venues open to Detroit’s biggest opening day block party. TVs, food, bars, and DJs throughout.
Town Pump Tavern Opening Day Tent Party
With a $15 ticket, party from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. with DJ Zig Zag, great barbecue and a full bar in a heated tent.

Getting Around
Many bars and restaurants offer shuttles to Comerica Park on opening day. If you’d like to take your party on the road, check out a party bus, shuttle, limo or trolley that will be running from different bars to the game.
You can skip driving and have Detroit Party Bus pick you up from one of the outlying suburbs. Drinks are available on the motor coach or you can bring your own. Your Detroit Party Bus ticket is round trip and will take you to various downtown locations and parties.
Van Hove Limousine will be running party buses, limos, and trolleys from various bars in Utica, Royal Oak, Chesterfield and more to Greektown Casino.
