Overview
The Detroit Festival of Books, also known as Detroit Bookfest, is an annual celebration of books, literacy, and Detroit’s creative community held at historic Eastern Market. The free, family-friendly festival welcomes approximately 20,000 attendees and features more than 300 vendors, including authors, independent booksellers, publishers, illustrators, literary organizations, artists, and local businesses. Visitors can discover new books, meet writers and creators, shop from independent vendors, and experience one of Detroit’s largest community-driven literary events. The 10th annual Detroit Bookfest will take place Sunday, July 18, 2027, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
