Overview
The War Memorial is a historic nonprofit organization located on the grounds of the former Alger Estate in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, dedicated to honoring those who served, enriching the community, and delivering exceptional experiences. Serving approximately 100,000 people each year, The War Memorial offers a diverse range of programs and activities for veterans, families, children, and adults, including community events, educational programs, cultural experiences, historic tours, and hospitality services. Its scenic lakefront setting and historic architecture make it a distinctive destination in southeast Michigan.
The War Memorial also serves as a premier venue for weddings, meetings, celebrations, concerts, exhibitions, and other special events. The Fred M. Alger Center, opened in 2022, provides modern event spaces with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of Lake St. Clair, while the historic estate and grounds offer an elegant backdrop for gatherings and experiences. Through its programming, community partnerships, veteran initiatives, and commitment to preserving its history, The War Memorial continues to serve as a dynamic cultural and community hub for southeast Michigan.
