Jarie Saad Ruddy is a metro Detroit based artist who uses mixed media photo collage as a form of storytelling. Jarie’s thoughtful, deeply personal practice draws from family history, art history, and religious imagery. As an art educator for more than forty years, she has also shared her belief in art’s ability to inspire, connect, and transform with generations of students.
Using family photographs as a starting point, her work blends remembered and imagined stories of migration from Lebanon and Sicily to Detroit. Layered materials, symbols, and cultural references trace the experiences, traditions, and connections carried from the Mediterranean to Michigan.
