12 Places to Eat Plant-Based Food in Detroit

Story by Sarah Bence | Photos by Mayas Indo Pak

Detroit has a growing vegetarian and vegan food scene. If you’re avoiding meat or all animal products, it can sometimes be difficult to find restaurants that cater to your needs.

Sure, you might be able to eat a side salad, but you often feel like you miss out on the really good food and have limited options when you dine out.

These 12 restaurants in Detroit have plenty of mouthwatering options for vegans and vegetarians, yet delicious enough to satisfy any appetite.

Detroit Vegan Soul West – 100% vegan

Detroit Vegan Soul West is Detroit’s original vegan restaurant and arguably one of the most popular destinations for vegan food in the city. Here you can find soulful comfort food with a vegan twist. Think vegan pizzas, spring rolls, mac and cheese, lasagna, po boys, and more. In addition to being completely vegan, the food here is also free from GMOs, additives, refined flours and sugars, and preservatives.
