La Feria Spanish Tapas
La Feria is an upbeat restaurant offering traditional Spanish small plates, wine and cocktails. They offer a variety of vegan and vegetarian-friendly dishes. Noni likes the asparagus, served with olive oil red bell pepper and garlic sauce, as well as the grilled portobello paired with sauce of parsley, lemon and garlic.
Inn Season Café
Inn Season Café is a Royal Oak restaurant staple that has been serving up locally sourced vegetarian and kosher fare since 1981. Noni’s go-to is the tempeh burger, which is served on a whole grain bun with vegan cheese, sautéed onions, lettuce and tomato.
Maru rolls some of Detroit’s best sushi right downtown. They have an entire section of their menu dedicated to vegetarians. The Simply Green roll is a safe bet, filled with cucumber avocado, kampyo, mixed greens and Maru dressing. Noni says the Rio Grande roll is where it’s at. It’s stuffed with avocado, asparagus, red pepper, tomato, serrano pepper, guacamole and pico de gallo – delish.
Seva’s Detroit location takes up shop behind the N’Namdi Center for Contemporary Art. Seva offers some of the best vegan dishes in town, but Noni suggests ordering the tempeh burger with a side of peanut-kale salad.
