What to know about Ford Field
There isn’t a bad seat in the house in Ford Field, so if you’re looking for tickets, it really comes down to your preference.
Gates open 2 ½ hours before the game, so for 1 p.m. star times, you can get in the stadium as early as 10:30 a.m. During that first hour and a half, the Lions host “Power Hour.”
During Power Hour, you can get food and drink specials throughout the area. Those specials include $3.99 beers, $6.99 Bloody Mary drinks, $3.49 hot dogs, $2.99 pops and $3.99 cocktails.
On top of the regular concession items you can get at the game, there are plenty of local restaurants to try out. Those include Bert’s BBQ, Big Boy, Coppercraft Distillery, Grobbel’s Gourmet Deli, Honcho, Lefty’s Famous Cheesesteaks, Uncle Joe’s Chicken Fingers and more.
If you want to hang outside before the game, there is Pride Plaza on Brush Street. It’s the official Lions tailgate and it starts about three hours before kickoff. There are bars, music, food trucks, games for fans and more.

Where to tailgate
There are plenty of places to tailgate around Ford Field, whether you want to host your own tailgate, hang out early at a bar, or go to a professionally-thrown tailgate at Eastern Market.

There are some great bars to hang out before the game if you’re looking to grab a bite to eat or enjoy a drink. Tin Roof is right down the street from Ford Field, and so is Hockeytown Cafe. The Old Shillelagh is close to the stadium and also offers a shuttle, or you can go to The Brakeman for a great atmosphere.
Where to go after the game
After the game, you’ll still have plenty of time left in the day, and it’s a perfect time to check out the Detroit Brew Trail or use the Detroit Pizza Pass.
Not far from Ford Field, you can check out several pizza spots including Buddy’’s Pizza, Mootz or Brass Rail. You can also check out Detroit Beer Co. just a few blocks away from the stadium.
If you’re looking for a nicer restaurant to enjoy in Downtown Detroit after the game, you can head to Parc in Campus Martius Park, Wright & Co., or Central Kitchen & Bar.

Where to stay
Within just a few blocks from Ford Field, there are plenty of hotels that will allow you to walk to the game and to all other areas of the city before and after the game.
The Atheneum Suite Hotel in Greektown just underwent renovations earlier this year and is about five blocks from Ford Field. The Hilton Garden Inn is just two blocks from Ford Field, and Aloft Detroit at the David Whitney puts you right in the heart of Grand Circus Park.
