Michigan Theatre Parking Garage
This parking garage in Downtown Detroit has been named among the best in the country. It was once a concert hall and movie house that sat thousands and is now a parking garage.
The beautiful architecture will stand out in your photos. It was also the site of a scene from the hit movie “8 Mile.”
Parker’s Alley
One of two great alleys for photos in Detroit, Parker’s Alley is often decked out for whatever season is happening, with black brick and a dark paving on the ground.
You will stand out among the dark colors, and the huge Shinola clock will also add to your photos.
You can even grab a lock from the Shinola store and hang it on a lock wall in the alley.
Fisher Building
Often called Detroit’s largest art object, the Fisher Building in New Center is always named the most beautiful building in Detroit
The architecture on the outside makes for a great backdrop to your pictures, but it’s the stunning detail inside that will make your pictures incredibly unique.
There is also a theatre inside the building, which includes beautiful gold doors at the entrance.
Guardian Building
Another beautiful building in Downtown Detroit, the Guardian Building is a great spot for people who love Michigan.
Inside, the architecture stands out with its ornate, colorful interior, and in the back is a huge mural of Michigan with several different industries that help the state thrive, including manufacturing, agriculture, fishing, mining and more.
Outdoor Adventure Center
Get a taste of the outdoors but inside at the Michigan DNR Outdoor Adventure Center. This spot offers people in the city a chance to take in Michigan’s outdoors.
There are plenty of unique places inside to take photos, including in some Adirondack chairs, in front of a fake waterfall, and much more.
Belle Isle
A huge island state park located in the City of Detroit and on the Detroit River, you could take your entire set of wedding or engagement photos on Belle Isle and everything would look different.
Sunset Point on the end of the island offers a great view of the Downtown Detroit skyline, and if you catch it at the right time, the sunset will be behind you.
The James Scott Memorial Fountain is a nearly 100-year-old marble fountain near Sunset Point. Also in that same area is the Belle Isle Casino, which opened in the late 1800s and is a beautiful old building.
The Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory and Belle Isle Aquarium offer stunning architecture to be the backdrop of your photos, and there’s the new Oudolf Garden Detroit that is three acres and has beautiful flowers.
Eastern Market Murals
If you want to add some art to your photos, head over to Eastern Market. There are plenty of spots to take pictures, and with over a dozen murals, you can change your background at every photo, even more often than you change your outfit!
Dequindre Cut
The Dequindre Cut is a former rail line that has been turned into a greenway running from Mack Ave. to the Detroit Riverfront.
While walking along the cut, you’ll encounter beautiful paintings and murals along the route that will give you plenty of options for great pictures.
Milliken State Park and Harbor
While the Detroit Riverfront offers plenty of great spots for photos, Milliken State Park itself gives you the taste of Pure Michigan right in Detroit.
You can have a great backdrop with the skyline behind you, or take photos by the historic lighthouse near the harbor.
Either way, you can go wrong being near the river and in the state park for photos.
Detroit Public Library
A historic building in Detroit’s Midtown neighborhood, the Detroit Public Library is a great spot for indoor and outdoor photos.
Inside, the stunning beauty of murals and brick with soft lights will be great for pictures, and the white stone on the outside combined with the historic light will add another aspect to your pictures.
Alley between One Detroit and One Detroit Parking Garage
Finally, a spot not often used in Downtown Detroit for photos is an alley between the One Detroit Building and the One Detroit Parking Garage, located around 90 Congress St.
It includes beautiful flowers and trees, and large, black triangular arches. In the back is the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center on one side, and out front you can get great views with One Detroit and the Guardian Building in the Background.
