10 Fun Activities to Celebrate Galentines Day in Detroit

With Valentine’s Day approaching quickly, it’s time to start planning your annual Galentine’s Day celebration! Still need plans?
We have the perfect list for you. From teas and brunch to haunted houses and speakeasies, Detroit has lots to offer for your 2023’s Galentine’s Day.
Tea at the Whitney
Located in Midtown, the Whitney is a historic 1890s Detroit mansion complete with 52 rooms. Tea is held on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:30 pm. Reservations are required and cost 49 dollars a person. The mansion tea service includes bubbly upon arrival, scones, sandwiches, and, of course, tea. Live music is also provided during tea times.

Selfies and Skating
Nothing like selfies and ice skating! Well, probably not at the same time, but you get the point. Strike a pose together at the Detroit Selfie Museum, which features over 20 art installations, begging you to post like crazy on Instagram and TikTok.
Then make your way to Campus Martius where you will find an ice-skating rink ready for you and your girlfriends to laugh uncontrollably and hold each other in an attempt not to fall.
Filipo Marc Winery
Visit Filipo Marc Winery for a wine tasting. Open Monday through Saturday, you and your friends can try over 70 types of wines including Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay, and White Zinfandel. Additionally, visitors to Filipo Marc Winery can make their own wine in stainless steel tanks from Italy under supervision. This is perfect if you are looking for a relaxing experience and want to try new wines.
The Detroit Film Theatre
Into the arts? The Detroit Film Theatre, located inside of the DIA, is a unique way to spend you Galentine’s Day celebration this year! With a variety of eclectic films and exhibitions, this is the perfect way to spend Galentines Day if films and art are your taste. You can even explore the DIA before seeing a film! Tickets are $9.50 for non-DIA members and 7.50 for DIA members with a valid membership card.
Ladies Night Out – Hilton Hotels
Do you want you Galentine’s Celebration to be longer than just a brunch or evening out? Hilton Hotels offers a wonderful package for those looking to celebrate in the heart of Downtown Detroit. With the Ladies Night Out package, you and three friends will receive champagne and bonbons upon arrival. You will also receive discounts to various Detroit stores and end your night with music at the Tin Roof. The experience starts at $169 for one day, one night at Hilton Garden Inn — Downtown Detroit. Additional experiences and goodies can be added such as Private Van Tour in Greater Downtown Detroit with several shopping stops!

Cocktails at shelby
Explore Detroit by finding this hidden gem during your Galentine’s celebration. Located in Detroit’s financial district at 601 Shelby Street, the speakeasy is found in an old Detroit bank vault and has specialty cocktails and shareables for order. Cocktails cost between 12 to 18 dollars and shareables average around 20 dollars. Reservations are not required but are recommended.

Toast
Get together for brunch at Toast! With locations in Ferndale and Birmingham, turn your Galentine’s Day into a shopping trip after brunch. From omelets and French toast to pancakes and cocktails, Toast is sure to have something everyone will enjoy. Additionally, enjoy some of Toast’s specialty banana cold brew coffee, brewed in Oxford, MI.
The Rochester Brunch House
Stop at this metro Detroit staple for your Galentines Day celebration. Located in Downtown Rochester, you and your friends can enjoy delicious French toast, a variety of brunch cocktails, and an Instagram photo-worthy environment. Additionally, with this brunch spot located in the heart of downtown Rochester you and your friends can spend the day shopping after brunch! Main dishes at the brunch house average around 15 dollars a person with cocktails averaging between 12 and 15 dollars.
Catfe Lounge
Are you and your friends cat lovers? Grab some coffee, or tea, and play with cats at the Catfe Lounge in Ferndale! A minimum donation of fifteen dollars per person is required, but it includes your choice of tea or coffee and an hour of visiting time. The Catfe Lounge is open Thursday to Sunday from 12pm to 5pm, and reservations can be made on the website.
Bar Hop and Stroll the Belt or Parker's Alley
If you and your girls are the ‘on the move’ type, start your Galentine’s Day at the Ten Nail Bar, where they do group bookings, for manis and pedi’. Did I mention, they offer a glass of champagne to enjoy during your services? Then make your way to the Siren Hotel to grab drinks at the Candy Bar and enjoy some delicious apps and cocktails in their plush bar area.
Nothing like experiencing the alleys in Detroit. Each one is lined with bars, restaurants, boutiques, murals, nightlife and more. This is a surefire way to maximize your day and time to get that good quality time in with the girls.
