Grab a Drink at These 10 Outdoor Patios in Detroit

Summertime, also known as patio season, is Detroit’s favorite time of year. We only get so many weeks to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather, so take advantage of it by stopping by one of our favorite outdoor patios in the city. As an added bonus, all of these spots have great drinks, too.

Detroit’s Outdoor Patios

1. Grey Ghost

This popular Brush Park eatery has a cozy patio and top-notch drinks created by Will Lee, their beverage director. For summer, we recommend the Streets of Gold or Violet’s Revenge.

2. Second Best

Just across the street from Grey Ghost is Second Best, and their “patio” sure has character. They have taken over the parking lot next door to the bar and created private tables to sit at with your friends. This dive has all of your favorite beers plus some cocktails you don’t see everyday, like a Pimm’s Cup and Sazerac.

3. The Royce

The Royce wine bar’s patio offers beautiful views of Grand Circus Park and offers unique wine choices with some classic charcuterie. Plus, they have a wine shop inside, so if you really like the glass you tried, you can buy the whole bottle.

4. Mercury Burger & Bar

This cozy Corktown patio is settled beneath the shadow of Michigan Central Station, making it a popular stop in the neighborhood. Plus, they have boozy milkshakes – need we say more?

5. McShane’s Irish Pub

McShane’s is a favorite before game days in The D. Their spacious patio is the perfect spot for Irish food, Irish beer, and a good time with friends.

6. Ottava Via

The Corktown patio trend continues with Ottava Via. This Italian spot has a gorgeous outdoor fireplace and bocce ball, plus upscale Italian cocktails to sip well into the night.

7. Mudgie’s

Go for their famous sandwiches but stay for the drinks on their quirky backyard patio. Covered with shade from trees, the Mudgie’s backyard is quite cool and relaxing on a summer day.

A newcomer to Detroit’s nightlife scene, Tin Roof has an awesome rooftop patio with the best view of Comerica Park and the Detroit skyline.
