8 Luxury Hotels in Detroit

Story by Lori Bremerkamp | Photos by The Dearborn Inn, MGM Grand, Westin Book Cadillac

You can live the good life in metro Detroit with these luxury hotels, including The Henry, The Townsend Hotel and the Westin Book Cadillac.

Atheneum Suite Hotel

Its Greek theme is apparent from the moment you enter this 174-suite hotel’s front doors. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed, and you couldn’t ask for a more prime location: The Atheneum is adjacent to the Greektown Casino and a short walk (or hotel shuttle ride) from a variety of other top Detroit attractions, including Campus Martius Park, the Detroit Opera House and Ford Field.

The Dearborn Inn

Built in 1931 to house Henry Ford’s overnight guests, The Dearborn Inn is ideally located near downtown Detroit and Detroit Metro Airport. Amenities include an on-site fitness center, outdoor pool and several nearby golf courses. Highlighted by more than 17,000 square feet of flexible event space, this AAA Four Diamond hotel is perfect for hosting social affairs, intimate weddings or large business events.

The Henry, Autograph Collection

Named for Revolutionary War hero Henry Dearborn, this hotel’s 11 guest floors are adorned with paintings and sculptures from celebrated masters, such as Pablo Picasso. Leading business and tourist attractions within 10 miles include the Automotive Hall of Fame, the Detroit Institute of the Arts and the Michigan Science Center. And because The Henry belongs to the Marriott clan, Marriott Rewards members can accumulate or cash in reward points here.

Saint John's Resort

Saint John's Resort has all of the comforts of home, with luxurious, well-appointed rooms designed for travelers’ convenience. A year-round heated driving range is among the many amenities to enjoy.

MGM Grand Detroit Casino

This Las Vegas-esque destination boasts more than 4,000 of the latest slot and video poker machines and more than 90 gaming tables. It has unrivaled luxury rooms and suites, celebrity chef restaurants, 30,000 square feet of meeting and convention space and the only resort-style spa in southeast Michigan.

The Royal Park Hotel

In the heart of downtown Rochester lies the Royal Park Hotel, a luxury boutique hotel complete with elegant indoor and outdoor spaces, including a library and putting green. The 143-room beauty is located near The Palace of Auburn Hills, Meadow Brook Theatre and Somerset Collection and offers on-property dining at Park 600.

The Townsend Hotel

Everything about this hotel is top-notch, which is why it comes as no surprise that Forbes Travel Guide recently awarded The Townsend Hotel a four-star rating. Its rooms are decked out with European-style interiors and their marble bathrooms feature little touches like jewelry holders. But you don’t have to stay the night to appreciate The Townsend’s elegance. Dine at the renowned Rugby Grille located inside, grab a cocktail at The Corner or make a reservation for afternoon tea. Best of all, the hotel is situated in downtown Birmingham, which is chock-full of fantastic eateries and designer shops.

The Westin Book Cadillac

Following a $200 million renovation, the historic Book Cadillac Detroit Hotel has been restored to its original Italian-Renaissance splendor. It features more than 60 residences on the upper floors and some of the Midwest’s most dramatic public event spaces.
