Food Delivery in Detroit: Get the Best Food Delivered to You
Modified: December 14, 2022 | Story by Ian Waldie | Photos by Bill BowenWe are all tired all of the time, but mostly, we are hungry. Sometimes the comforts of the couch beckon us to stay inside for the night. Our will to remove ourselves from those sacred couch cushions is just not there. As much as Detroit has to offer in terms of entertainment, cuisine, and art, sometimes our need for some quality time inside triumphs over any desire to go out and experience the wonders of the city. Thankfully, at least one aspect of Detroit’s pleasantries can be brought to your very front door — the delicious food!

Food Delivery in Detroit: Uber Eats and Grubhub Have Your Back
Uber Eats and Grubhub give access to some of Detroit’s best restaurants and takeout joints to both visitors and residents alike. Whether you live in the Royal Oak, Ferndale, Hamtramck, or Highland Park or you are staying at the Detroit Mariott at the Renaissance Center for a visit, Uber Eats and Grubhub have your back when it comes to satiating the need for some of Detroit’s best food while you skip the ambiance and social scene for the night.
Anyone with a smart phone can utilize these services (yes, even non-millenials). The interfaces for both Uber Eats and Grubhub are super navigable and it’s free of charge to set up an account. Uber Eats tracks the actual progress of your food order (and then, of course, the delivery driver’s location in relation to your whereabouts).
Options Galore
Although not every restaurant in Detroit participates in delivery services, a multitude of delicious ones do! Maybe you’re in the mood for a quick shawarma wrap from La Palma. If so, Grubhub has got you covered.

Perhaps you have some guests over and going in on some Korean Short Rib pizzas from Jolly Pumpkin or some pork, chicken, and shrimp tacos from Hot Taco seems like the best bet. If that’s the case, Uber Eats will make sure you have everyone fed and happy.
Some of Detroit’s finer cuisine is available through these apps as well; if you’re aiming for decadence on a night in, Andiamo’s entire menu is available via Uber Eats. If you’re willing to spend a little extra cash, I suggest topping the evening off with a treat (or two, or three, or four) from the infamous Katherine McGregor Dessert Parlor located in The Whitney. I mean, c’mon, you KNOW you want to eat some cheesecake in your bathtub. Well, I highly recommend it, anyway.
Staying In Tonight, Out and About Tomorrow
Yes, we all have those days and nights where getting out of the house or apartment does not feel like the answer to treating ourselves. Luckily, Uber Eats and Grubhub are available to make all of your takeout dreams come true (aka the most important dreams). No longer are your options limited to pizza, Chinese, and subs — these delivery services offer a selection of Detroit restaurants ranging from classic fast food (they will literally get you McDonalds) to fine dining. Plus, you can’t forget about the trendier, fusion restaurants in between that are perfect for takeout.
Although being cozy at home is always ideal, there is still so much to see around Detroit. Don’t forget to treat yourself in other ways like enjoying a glass of wine and a cheese plate on the patio at Ottava Via or having the dining experience of your life at Selden Standard.
Still, when the couch and television are calling your name for the evening, don’t hesitate to have Uber Eats and Grubhub bring some of Detroit’s best food delivered to your home for the night. Oh, and don’t’ forget to tip your driver!
